Business-Specific Identity and Access Management

Let’s take a look at the modern technology-driven business environment. Every organisation is in the fast lane of modernisation with one requirement that is observed to be common for all: faster and simpler access to data and other IT resources imperative to their specific business needs. However, determining access parameters to these resources within an organisation is a critical endeavour as the resources need to be constantly tracked and protected in order to guarantee security and compliance with stringent IT regulations. Consequently, IT administrators have to deal with a growing number of challenges, such as managing access to data and applications and provisioning user access across multiple platforms. To execute these tasks seamlessly, modern enterprises require a business-specific identity and access management (IAM) solution that can not only adapt to the unique IT structure of the company but also simplify the implementation and usability aspect of the IAM software.

However, a majority of modern IAM vendors fail to achieve this objective—largely due to a lack of proper understanding of customer requirements and the complex nature of the regulatory landscape. And no one understands this market inadequacy better than Innomatrix. With customisation at its core, Innomatrix is a trusted identity management solution provider and integrator that specialises in delivering exceptional transparency, customisability, integration, and control to users through its state-of-the-art IAM solutions.

Case in point: The Hungarian State Railways (MÁV). This Hungarian national railway company operates on a complex network of more than 150 IT system applications. These systems not only required various access rights and privilege levels but also created a great deal of manual work for the railways in the form of handwritten approvals and handling entitlements of more than 7,000 independent legal entities. Apart from dealing with this herculean task at hand, the administrative operations at MÁV also ran a significant risk of human errors on a large scale.

After implementing Innomatrix’s proprietary IdMatrix platform, the solution more than just eliminated the hierarchy-based access complexity; it enabled the employees of MÁV to effortlessly join, access, and receive entitlements and access rights. Moreover, IdMatrix easily complies to all the regulatory parameters along with offering a provision to generate audit reports with the mere push of a button. The success story only exemplifies Innomatrix’s focus on delivering customised Identity management (IdM) systems for its clients that takes into consideration all their intricate business needs.

“We believe that customers should not adapt to a product, but the product has to be tailored to the customer,” says Szabolcs Vida, managing director, Innomatrix.

Backed by more than 15 years of experience in designing IdM solutions, the company has developed a proprietary methodology that holistically addresses the needs of every stakeholder involved in the user lifecycle management including the HR, business users, and security, compliance, and data protection officers.

IdMatrix NG can operate as a central IT security and services platform that is more than just a simple IdM solution

Functioning as a prominent security solutions vendor, Innomatrix also provides its clients with comprehensive solutions focused on the aspects of cybersecurity, including protecting critical infrastructures, analysis of cyber threats, and managed IT services.

Customisation at the Core

Recently, Innomatrix released a new version of IdMatrix Identity Management and Identity Governance solution—IdMatrix NG. This helps Innomatrix’s customers to effectively solve their unique business complexities while providing greater customisability and a diverse range of integration capabilities, combined with cloud services and critical business applications. Equipped with different integration modules, IdMatrix NG easily blends with the customer’s choices, whether it be a different user interface or a workflow engine. Through this unique approach, Innomatrix has been successful in augmenting customer satisfaction, usability, and user adoption without increasing implementation time.

IdMatrix NG supports multi-tenant operations that enable easy operability for service providers as well. Compatible with every browser, IdMatrix NG’s user-friendly interface is intuitive and can function across a range of devices.

Designed as the next generation of Innomatrix’s Identity Governance solutions, IdMatrix NG comes with a built-in intelligence capability to manage identities and fulfil compliance requirements easily. According to Vida, the shortest implementation timeframe for IdMatrix NG has been noted to be less than three months at a large organisation, thanks to the industry-specific standards pre-programmed in the software.

Developed with a goal to improve security and productivity IdMatrix NG facilitates functions such as lazy approval through email applications that significantly increase the possibility to complete approval tasks from any location and at any time. This can dramatically save time for users in receiving access rights, allowing them to focus on productive tasks. Moreover, the built-in automation feature can provide access rights based on technical or business roles in the blink of an eye.

IdMatrix NG proves to be instrumental even in the case of privileged access management. A challenging endeavour for most organisations, privileged access management can be daunting, especially due to conflicts between the IT operations and security departments during the process of meeting the least privilege principle requirements. IdMatrix NG exudes the capability to effectively resolve this conflict by managing privileged accounts based on workflows, thus eliminating the need to own privileged access rights during the day-to-day operation. However, in case of urgency, privileged access rights can be easily requested via the system for a specific period of time.

Additionally, IdMatrix NG can operate as a central IT security and services platform that is more than just a simple IdM solution.

The software provides users with an option to request customised office automation functionalities including approval, signing of invoices, and resources such as mobile phones and computers, all through a single user interface.

A Testament of Success

Illustrating IdMatrix’s prowess, Vida cites the success story of one of Innomatrix’s clients—DOM-P IT, an outsourcing partner and a supplier of IT services for domestic financial institutions. DOM-IT had a high-level, sophisticated business operation due to the complexity of the systems within the workflow as well as the number of users it served. The situation was further complicated by the fact that the IT services needed to be provided to separate banks with the highest security standards, thus making the implementation of a scalable, highly available audit-proof IdM solution, a fundamental requirement for DOM-P.

Innomatrix successfully implemented IdMatrix 2 identity management system in DOM-P’s software environment, effectively integrating with several complex business applications that served thousands of users.

In an implementation period of less than six months, from the identification of client needs to complete integration, Innomatrix successfully automated all the manual functions and effectively increased the overall organisational efficiency of the client. Innomatrix’s solution also saved significant costs for the client in the long run. Since IdMatrix 2 ensured complete corporate separation, it was enough for the client to run one copy of IdMatrix 2 instead of creating a separate IdM system for each financial institution being served.

The Driving Force

As the primary flagship product of Innomatrix, the company designed IdMatrix in line with specific European IT requirements and trends. The main driving force behind the development of Innomatrix IAM solutions has always been the company’s goal to provide its clients with individualised solutions and services of outstanding quality in the dynamically changing market. “Quality is a key factor in regard to support services; we offer multilingual professional support to our customers to provide solutions to any request or issue,” adds Vida.

"We believe that customers should not adapt to a product, but the product has to be tailored to the customer"

“We maintain a close relationship with customers by offering them premium support so that they can directly influence our roadmap and thereby the development of the product,” explains Vida. Innomatrix also provides customer-friendly licensing options with unlimited licenses, which make it possible for the system to be used by numerous users and companies. All of this at the lowest cost in comparison to other vendors.

While Innomatrix has a promising vision for technological progress, it also places a special emphasis on sustainability and environmental protection as a socially responsible firm that vows to leave a healthy environment with rich fauna and flora for future generations. Currently, with one of the most dynamically developing areas of the company being the range of products and services related to IT security, Innomatrix’s expansion is also significantly directed towards the support of healthcare institutions and sports clubs, where the company plans to converge its social and environmental ideologies with its other strategic growth plans for the future.
