Similar to how an individual’s identity influences their experiences in the world, an enterprise’s identity plays a critical role in enhancing its competitiveness in the business realm. Today, as data mobility and its round the clock accessibility has become crucial drivers of organisational success, companies across all verticals are taking steps toward enhancing their identity and access management (IAM) processes. However, in the pursuit to manage identities more efficiently, a majority of organisations consider IAM to be a strictly technical endeavor, “when in reality, it should be more like a strategic framework of technologies and processes,” says Jens Björkman, CEO of ID North.
Based on this notion, the Swedish identity and access management consulting company is on a mission to help its clients enhance the IAM framework and spread awareness toward the overall impact of effective identity and access control for business success. ID North aids CIOs in articulating the business risks of inadequate IAM control for C-level executives, and bring a remedy to the issues through its “governance-first” approach to IAM.
The company represents a full portfolio of solutions offered by SailPoint, a leading provider of enterprise identity management, including its flagship product IdentityIQ and cloud-based IdentityNow solution. SailPoint’s IdentityIQ is full-scale identity governance and administration platform that is designed to operate in the center of a business’s security infrastructure and provide all other security modules required to bolster the IAM. By collaborating with SailPoint, ID North offers robust IAM governance products and managed services. “If SailPoint is a powerful racing car, then ID North is its most skilled driver; a perfect combination for taming the identity and access governance needs,” asserts Björkman.

Today, owing to unparalleled IAM governance offered by ID North, the company has ignited several success stories with its clients. In one instance, ID North assisted Swedish Pensions Agency—a firm that administers and pays national pensions, handling pension transactions worth 3000 million U.S. dollars per year—take full control of all identities and system accesses. The client wanted to implement a comprehensive IAM platform that visualises and analyses their extensive IAM processes and automate key identity lifecycle functions such as approval, recertification, joiner, mover, leaver processes. To aid them in achieving this, ID North designed and implemented SailPoint’s IdentityIQ by integrating and structuring the customer’s application portfolio. Because of this partnership, the agency gained detailed insight into the existing identity and access framework of all their business-critical applications, and enhanced risk mitigation processes by cleaning discrepancies and inappropriate accesses from their systems. Since then, the customer has undergone several audits without a remark. “We also aided the client in achieving enhanced efficiency with re-certification digitalisation, thereby reducing the end-to-end timeline from three months to two weeks,” states Björkman.
This year, ID North signed a partnership with Okta—a renowned IAM company—to bolster their portfolio and is currently training its consultants on the Okta’s IAM products. Additionally, the company also launched “governance-as-a-service,” which is a managed service based on SailPoint’s products offered via a subscription-based model to minimize upfront costs and save time for companies in implementing governance and ensuring compliance. “Looking ahead, we aim to become the market leaders in access management the same way we are in identity governance, by capitalising the current gap in the marketplace,” concludes Björkman.
